We’re looking forward to starting the new year, planning our UJ field studies, and selecting our field study participants.
Stressed about the long memo? It’s almost done! And to celebrate the completion of the long memo, Universal Justice is hosting a long memo social that night. So if you haven’t seen your friends in too long and want to get together before the Thanksgiving break, come down to Sway to help support a good cause and de-stress with other 1Ls (2Ls and 3Ls are of course welcome).
There will be a $5 charge at the door, and that gets you a half-price deal. Sway will also have a DJ Monday night, so it should be a great time.
What: Long Memo Social
When: Monday, November 22, 2010 from 8pm-11pm
Where: Sway, 305 Spring Street (just a quick walk from the 1 or C trains)
Why: To celebrate the end of the long memo and get together before the Thanksgiving break
Good luck! Hope to see everyone there!
We are currently accepting applications for all of our trips for the year. I’m going to post here any questions we get with answers.
Question: I plan on applying for multiple trips. Would you like separate applications for each trip, or should we write one letter of interest in which we rank our trip preferences?
We’ve received applications both ways in the past. We will accept (and I would suggest writing) one statement of interest that is greater than one page, if you are applying to multiple trips. I suggest that you emphasize why you want to go on your number one choice as well.
Question: Does one need to be fluent in Spanish for the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua trips?
One doesn’t need to be fluent in Spanish for the Dominican Republic or Nicaragua trips, but we like participants to have some knowledge of Spanish. Many times our work will be conducted in Spanish, and it definitely allows people to get more out of the trips. Nonetheless, almost every year we accept people who have no knowledge of Spanish for both trips.
We will be accepting applications for the winter break trip to Nicaragua, the spring break trip to Jamaica and the spring break trip to the Dominican Republic. To apply, please send a 1 page statement of interest and a resume to Fordhamuj@gmail.com by Sunday, September 26th at 5 PM
Friday, September 24th at 5 PM. Feel free to email us with any questions!
Updated to reflect the Sunday deadline.
